Jan Vincens Steen har vært leder for Avis i Skolen i Mediebedriftenes Landsforening (MBL) fra 1981 til 2008. Han har også undervist i grunnskolen i Hedmark og i Oslo.

Jan Vincens Steen har et stort nasjonalt og internasjonalt kontaktnett.

Gjennom Avis i Skolen har han samarbeidet med Folkehelsa, Norges Idrettsforbund/Norges Olympiske Komité, Stortinget, Telemuseet, Statens Forurensings Tilsyn (SFT), Forbrukerombudet og Forbrukerrådet, Barne og Likestillingsdepartementet, Rusmiddeldirektoratet, Redd Barna, WWF, World Association of Newspapers (WAN), Det Europeiske Journalistsenteret i Maastricht, Norske Skog, Norge 2000 og Norge 2005. Steen har gjort titalls undersøkelser for MBL, Tidningsutgivarna, WAN og andre. Han har skrevet lærerbøker og veiledningshefter og blir hyppig brukt som foreleser i inn- og utland.

Jan Vincens Steen has been manager for Newspapers in Education(NIE) for the Norwegian Media Business Association (MBL) from 1981 to 2008. He has also been a teacher in primary and secondary schools in Hedmark and Oslo.
